The first meeting of the steering committee was the opportunity to thoroughly present the E4BEL project. We began by presenting the backbone of the project: the combined use of macroeconomic, microeconomic and sociological methods in order to assess the equity, efficiency and acceptability of carbon pricing in Belgium.
HIVA will develop surveys to assess the public acceptability of carbon pricing, while the Federal Planning will be in charge of developing a computable general equilibrium model. Microsimulation using a job choice model and a tax-benefit calculator will be handled by the Department of Economics at the KU Leuven.
